Strategy v's Action: An update about Maru's growth

Kenny@Maru |

Remember that post about standing in the dark tunnel, waiting for the 1st of September? The nerves, the panic, the feeling of staring into the blinding light?

Well, I’m out the other side now. The whistle went, the match started, and I’ve got to be honest—I’m absolutely loving it.

Since stepping onto the pitch, the learning curve has been massive, but in the best way possible.

The Biggest Lesson: 'Why' Beats 'How' Chatting with peers and potential clients has been a proper wake-up call. I realised I was spending way too much energy explaining how I do the work—the technical nuts and bolts.

But the truth? People don’t really care about the machinery; they care about the result. I’ve learned that the problems I solve matter way more to people than the clever methods I use to solve them. Shifting that conversation has changed everything.

Putting in the Hard Yards I won’t lie, getting my head around the sales and marketing side has been a grind. It’s been about rolling up my sleeves, getting myself out there, and doing the actual work of networking. It’s not always comfortable, but it works. The support I’ve had just from talking to people has been brilliant.

The Verdict? That feeling of standing in the tunnel is gone. I’m out on the grass, in the thick of it, and the game is actually fun.
